I know what the new model says....I say....it's wrong. My kids that are that LOW are soooooo easily distracted and if not being distracted they are trying to avoid reading and will take any opportunity to do so! I am sorry - but I think when a child is reading on a 3 or 4 and should be reading on a 16...they need to be pulled out to a quiet area with other kids that level. This is a serious intervention for a serious challenge. Just my 2 cents. Kym (by the way- my coach wanted to push in too.... I told her to pull out for a couple of weeks and we'd talk about it when she got to know them....she thanked me last week....she said they are sooooooooo off task and unfocused - it would've been a nightmare in the classroom!)
