I'm Heather's sister, teaching in Japan for the next two years for the Department of Defense. I arrived last week. Oh, my goodness. As another new science teacher put it, we've "died and gone to teacher heaven". I teach 6th grade science. I've been assigned 2 rooms of my own: 1 lecture, 1 lab. The equipment is incredible! Upside: materials, classrooms, class size (max. is 20-25), totally supportive environment. Downside: I live in a small island that shakes, explodes and has torential rains! Also it's military life. Apply! Just be sure you understand you go where you are sent - you don't really get a choice!
