Moving
By Helen

Clip to ScrapBook
I got caught in a similar situation last fall. Thank God for my husband and my grown daughters and their friends! My husband and I basicall took his pickup on the first workday and moved my stuff. I had been out during
the summer and packed but couldn't move until the other teacher could move out. He did most of it as I was called to meetings, and all he could do was pile it in the middle of the floor!!!! My asst. was there but "couldn't help" (her back hurt, but even if it weren't for that she hadn't made a move to help pack in the spring etc. so she had no idea where anything was). By the weekend,
school started on Monday, I was freaking!!!! My daughter drove 600 miles and brought a friend to help, my other daughter lives near here and brought a friend...my asst. left town and was gone a week, not even here for first day of school, but we got it done!!!
YES, I SYMPATHIZE! BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, GOT THAT TEE SHIRT!
You know, as teachers, we always "get the ox out of the ditch" by pulling out all stops and using unpaid friends and family. I often wonder just what would happen if we just said NO! The admin. has to take the responsibility! We are not doing it!
Think that about the hundreds of dollars worth of supplies we buy each year too!!! I spent $75.00 yesterday and have spent hundreds this sumeer and spring because we are starting Four Block in August and I needed better ,updated materials.! Sometimes I wonder about those of us who choose to teach..but then I get a letter this week from a kid from last year, telling me how he misses me! I'm just a sucker for these kids!!! LOL Love seeing the lightbulbs go on..so here we go again..off and running for a new year!
