I understand how you are feeling. My husband's school district decided that they wanted to have the first semester completed by Christmas break this year, so they returned even earlier this year than last year. He is at| school as we speak, getting ready for the next batch of high-school wanna-be eighth graders now entering ninth grade. He got out on June 6 and returned yesterday, July 30--less than the traditional amount of off-time. He, too, has to go to a new room. He just moved into the new science wing of the school. Everything he owns from his classroom is now in that wing. Now, just one week | | before school starts, he is being told that the new building has not yet been approved for student use. He is beginning to wonder where he will teach with all of the other classrooms occupied, including his old one. I know from personal experience how you are feeling, too. I once took a job where I was placed in a trailer out at the back of the school. I was going to be the only fifth grade teacher outdoors, while the others were in the nice, modern building. (My trailer was old, dusty, and couldn't have been a worse classroom! Even the parents hated it!) The day I arrived at school for our first teacher workday, I was told that I would be in that old trailer "out back." I was also told--and this was just three days before school started--that the wiring and other things still needed to be completed. The trailer had just been resurrected from the junkyard, I suppose, and needed a set of steps and to be set up as a "permanent" structure, complete with a bunch of blocks to keep it from crumbling to the ground. Try to enjoy the remaining days of your summer. I hope things improve for you.
