RE: non-teaching staff By Mary
|
| I have ALWAYS made it a point to go out of my way to be pleasant to the support staff, whether it is the school secretary, clerks, custodians, or cafeteria workers. I have found that a little bit of congeniality works wonders in getting me what I need. As far as the custodians coming into the room while I am working after school, they usually ask if they will be disturbing me and, on the very rare occasions when I need to concentrate more closely on what I am doing, they have been more than amenable to coming back at a later time. I also find that it to be a welcome diversion to spend a few minutes chatting. The benefits have been that whenever I have made a request for help, I have very little lag time between the asking and the receiving!!
