parent-pleasing principals

You're right, Anne. My principal backs down the moment a parent enters his office and squawks. Of course, it's his first year he has just finished, and he is probably treading on a thin line. Given a choice, who will this new principal please: the parent or the teacher, if given a choice? Wouldn't he step all over a new teacher if it meant saving his own neck?
