Anne and Sue are right. My partner and I always make note of any disciplinary action we take against a student, any trips to the office, any notes from home that might lead to trouble. We date these and put copies in the student's folder along with test scores and grades. It's quick and pretty painless. No one sees this stuff unless there's trouble. When we need to conference with a parent about behavior or other problems we have a record of what has been done and when.

Good luck with your questionable principal. In my experience a good principal makes for a great school. Too bad they're not all good.
