    Been There

I was at a school for two years and it went through restructing. It may be different from state to state. At my school the entire staff was replaced. The district moved us into different schools around the district. Addtional staff was placed at the school, additional funds were given, preference was given to the school to enroll in district professional development, extra time was added to the school day and class sizes were limited to 15 per room.

That last year we did make AYP and the school made AYP again this year. YEAH! They're off the list but the school also lost all those extras this year. Classes are back up to 22 - 25 per room, no additonal staff or funding. They still have the extended school day. The teachers and school are really scrambling trying to keep test scores up.

Putting all that extra into a school and then yanking it when they make it off the list is a down fall in NCLB.

    Good luck this year.

My district is under state restructing. The district can not do anything with the state's approval.
