teacher's fault
By Colleen

Clip to ScrapBook
If it were the fault of a particular teacher then the problem student would not have problems the following year (possibly). When I am blamed for the problem of a student then I hope it was me then the student should
be fine for the rest of their school days. Guess what? The kids continue to have problems if the teacher, parents and principal etc. don't address the need of the student. Working together will help all involved. Perhaps the child will still have behavior problems but when this kid knows all caring adults are working together to help the situation then there should be a change. Principals
need to support their staff. When the teachers look good they look good.
I had a principal who was a nice guy but would not do anything about helping with discipline. I learned not to count on him for help and had to deal with some hot issues that should have been on his shoulders. I felt crappy dealing with parents in that way but I think they could see what a weak principal he was. I learned to choose issues that he needed to respond to (he never did) or be made aware of. He loved me for this. I got a glowing evaluation. My intent was that if I ever left this school I would need a good reference from him. That's the way I play the game now. We are getting a new principal this year. I may have to play differently.
