getting it all in
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
I love challenges, too. I am looking forward this year to trying to meet those challenges. With each passing year, I grow more confident in my skills as a teacher, and I am more content to do things differently, even more
differently than I did them when I did my teacher training. When I first started teaching, I thought it was horrible if I skipped a single workbook page, for example! I missed a workbook page in reading, then I thought I had absolutely RUINED the kids. I went page-by-page in the textbooks I used.

Of course, now I know better. Now, I teach math in science class. I teach math in

social studies class. The kids I taught last year evidently weren't used to the idea and found it confusing at first. Eventually, the kids got used to the crazy lady who used the social studies book during our math block time, and doing science during our reading block time. I don't worry about doing workbook pages. I have to say that experience brings enormous changes to the way we teach!
