Changing our ways
By Carol

Clip to ScrapBook

Since I hate using the text and teach through discussion, I like this idea. It there is a real purpose in the reading, other than acquiring knowledge, which can be done in a variety of ways, I could see using it. Actually,
I would like to throw the reader out. There is no time for it. I teach in a private school and we only have the afternoons to teach. Think about cutting
your day in half and still have to do all the required work plus have parents who do not like homework.

I work on a tight schedule and have to try to teach skills within content subjects. Graphing is a snap to do since we

graph throughout the Social Studies curriculum. Perhaps, I will throw out the Math graphing completely except as review sheets and make sure that I implement the different kinds of graphs in History.

Social Studies seems to be my base for teaching other subjects and skills. Writing, critical thinking, problem solving, memorization, now graphing and there is a lot of basic math that comes up also, using information we have. Thank you for giving me a new focus. I love challenges.
