Excessing is the correct term. "Bumping" is a slang term. Senior teachers are allowed to bump junior teachers in the district I work for. The position I had was a "push-in" reading teacher. I went into other teacher's classrooms and worked with small groups who were the lowest in reading. In my school, the principal told me there was a lot of competition for my position. She completely ignored the fact that I had a Reading license and told me the position would go to the teacher with the most seniority.
