Clip to ScrapBook
I teach in an inner city setting and I must tell you that for it to work, structure it down to the minute. I know that goes against your instinct to let teachable moments happen, but these kids need structure that they do
not get at home. I have had great success with 4-block, but like I said I start it at exactly the same time everyday do working with words for the exact same amount of time etc... I do vary what we do to keep them interested but they know what will happen. This was tedious at the beginning of the year, but by Oct. the kids were telling me when I forgot "The clock says 9:59 shouldn't
we get ready for self-selected reading?" Good luck urban schools are tough but so rewarding. You leave daily exhausted but knowing you did some awesome things for kids that need you. God bless you and good luck.
