summer
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
Elizabeth,
I'm so sorry you're unable to get pregnant. I had trouble conceiving and it was hell. The worst part was how all our friends and family intruded (without really meaning to) into this intimate area of our lives.
I hope you find your heart's desire in some other way.

As to this summer, I always try to read some professional books on a particular topic over the summer. One year I concentrated on gifted education, another year I read about science activities. This year I'm absorbing books about reading instruction. I find that during the school year reading like this distracts me and I

am frustrated when I try to implement new ideas because I didn't start at the "beginning". When I read in the summer I am able to make notes about how I want to change my teaching practices at the beginning of the school year. I can be fresh and thoughtful in the summer. Just an idea!
