My system By Carol

I decided that this summer, I was goimg to set up everything in the most organized way. It took me about a week but I love it. I went to the store and bought skinny looseleafs in five colors. I bought several of each.| I also got matching folders (same colors). My red ones are for the language Arts curriculum (reading, writing, grammar, spelling). Green is Social Studies (history, geography, research, current events). Science is blue and each unit has its book. Math is brown and I broke that up into computation, problem solving and testing and one for topics such as geometry, measurement, time and | | money, graphing, etc. Last is Black and that is for teacher topics, (behavior, management, study skills, ideas). It may sound cumbersome but I have labeled both front and side of each and now whenever I want to add something or look up something, I pull out that clearly marked book and find it. The folders will be used on the units as I teach them and then returned to the notebooks. I guess, after this year, I can tell you how it really worked. No, I am not Miss Neatness or Miss Organization, by any means but with thousands of papers, maps, charts, etc. I needed help.I also keep one notebook nearby and write down good ideas as I come across them.
