Like you, I start out with very good intentions. I have organizers for everything. I have binders for subject areas, pencil holders, chalk basket, and all of that. But I did find myself piling stuff onto my desk.

I
think the problem for so many of us is that we don't really have the time to get the things put away. Putting stuff in their proper place--file drawer, etc.--is time consuming. We have other things to do. Therefore, the notice that we got from the office on Monday, which was supposed to be answered by Wednesday, still sits in the desk in a pile somewhere on Friday.
I have tried to

set aside a special time for going through everything. I decided that Friday afternoon, after kids were gone, I would organize. Setting aside this time, especially when it was quiet, helped me a great deal.
