inconsiderate parent
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
I think it's inconsiderate of a parent to expect you to allow him/her to bring a small child along on a field trip with your class. Young children become restless very easily. They may also be bored with the activities
you are doing, since they are geared for older, school-aged children. Keeping track of such a child may be a problem while you and the parent are trying to manage your class. The small child could become lost. I see a lot of problems with this situation.

I think that the parent had a lot of nerve to go and complain to your principal about this. Like the principal is going to override

your decision on this. I am just glad that he backed you up and said "no." You and your principal certainly have more sense than your parents do.

I like the idea of stating that there's a policy which does not allow siblings to come along on a field trip. I think this should effectively stop nagging parents from bringing their small children.
