The children of other staff members...
By Jessica

Clip to ScrapBook
Ooo!!! This is such a sore spot with me. Our school is horrible about this. I teach in a resource room with two other teachers and two aids. One of the teacher's children are in junior high, and other then the occasional
popping in to ask their mom a question, I never see them. The two aids also have children in elementary school, however they are never a problem, always quiet and respectful. The other sped teacher, however has three children in elementary school. They continually make my life horrible after school, waiting around for their mom to get off work. Her oldest son (4th grader) has had several
major, full blown, screaming, balwing temper tantrums while in our room after school. It drives me nuts!!! I keep several of my sped students after school each week to go over concepts/catch up, ect and many of my students have a hard time attending...imagine my poor students trying to get something done while this teacher's brat is throwing himself on the floor, screaming at the top of his lungs because he wants to go somewhere else, can't watch T.V., ect. The other day was the last straw. He was pitching a fit about not being able to watch T.V. while in our room because I had kids. She just walked out of the room, leaving her son in the midst of a hellish temper tantrum, and me and my student trying to get something accomplished. I was sooooo mad...I stood up, asked my student to go into the hall and shut the door, knelt by that kid on the floor, and gave him the best reaming I could do. They heard me yelling in the next wing. I know it wasn't professional, but that brat shut his mouth!!! I really resent having her kids in the room while she isn't there...that happens a lot. I think there needs to be a plan in place for teachers who have to share rooms...no teacher's kid should get away with murder or be left for another to babysit!!! I would never let kids of my own behave that way (granted I don't have them...but the other aids in our room do, and I never hear a peep out of them). Other teacher's children in our school can get away with bloody murder all the time, causing the lives of their teachers to be miserable. What is with people??? I feel so bad for you in your situation. It's a toughy!!! Best of luck.
