teaching your kids
By christine

Clip to ScrapBook
I guess it depends how old the kids are. I taught my son in 1st grade last year ( because there was no other choice) and it was great. No problems at all, he really separated his mother at home from his teacher at school
and every week told me things like :'You know, teacher, yesterday I baked a cake with my mother.' I let my husband handle all the homework ,signing papers etc so I was never a teacher at home.
This year, I taught my daughter in 1st grade too. I asked her if she wanted to be in my class and she said yes, 'because it wouldn't have been fair'. She has a very strong personality and is very
strongwilled and sometimes stubborn but she separated the two jobs ( mom/teacher) very well too. In fact, I feel I know her better because in class she is not the straight-A student her brother is and she is less confident and independent than she can be at home. In a way, I was glad to see that she was not always the little "I can do everything by myself" girl I know at home... And I was quite happy to be able to help her ( she is also in a very weak class who had 2 bad teachers before). I think it really depends on your child's personality and whether you feel comfortable about it. But I would do it again
