I do it by working a half-time contract. I worked several years full time, then quit with a bad case of burn-out. I stayed out long enough to have three children, then slowly worked back into teaching. I could be working full time now. My youngest is 14. But, you know, I LOVE the half time gig. I get to do what I'm good at and I get time to take care of family and home. I know half-time contracts aren't available everywhere, but maybe you should look into it.
