KY's version of TEAM
By Angie

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach in KY and we have something VERY similar to what you are describing--KTIP (kentucky Teacher Internship Program). In your first year of teaching you are responsible for a complete ( and I mean COMPLETE) portfolio
of all that you have done (major documentation) and we have 6 observations (another teacher, the principal, and an advisor from a college--2 times each). We are scored on 10 performance criteria. I went to school in WV and did my student teaching there--My first year of teaching was a nightmare--I had to work my tail off to plan, grade papers and do all the regular stuff that comes with
teaching and then do all the KTIP stuff. I know it is a way to make sure teachers are on the right track, but it was VERY tough! It is nice to know that KY is not alone in their endeavor to weed out all teachers who think it is an "easy" job!!
