Thank you, everyone By worn out

I am the person who posted the original message. I just checked in and was amazed at the number of responses. Every word written was something to which I could relate. Veteran teachers, you really gave some great "words| of wisdom." Newer teachers, I feel your frustration so much! I wanted to say that I do have pretty good classroom management because I learned the hard way last year. When I started this year, I put into effect some VERY STRUCTURED routines, which I review and discuss often. Sometimes we will spend 20 minutes at the end of a week discussing how our behavior has been and how well we | | are doing with following the rules and routines. My classroom is very efficient, and I take pride in that being a second-year teacher. It is silent during independent work time. Transitions are smooth and well-planned. I actually did invest a lot of time into reading about classroom management this past summer, which DID help. But it is so taxing on a teacher to handle the kids who act out, especially when there are so many in one classroom. Anyway, I just wanted to clarify to the veteran teachers that I am not the typical new teacher with a classroom of maniac kids running free because I don't have control! I definitely am in control (in a cooperative discipline kind of way). It is just the overall profession and daily grind that are killing me! I do feel somewhat better just from reading your replies, and I do think I will give it another shot next year if I can't transfer. It can only stay the same or get better.
