Melissa's problem
By GC

Clip to ScrapBook
Oh dear, what a sad case you have there. If you kept failing do you think you would want to keep trying? You might if you had loving and encouraging parents to back you up but this poor kid doesn't have that either it seems.
Surely there is some way that you and your special needs person can get together to give him some kind of success. It's not the child's fault that he has a father who is in jail. In my school we have had lots of those. The rewards you give do not have to be big. You could give positive comments on his book or let him choose from alist of rewards if you see any improvement at all. Obviously
you will still be rewarding the others. Just have a little compassion. His self esteem must be really low. Find something he is good at and praise him for that. If you his teacher give up on him who has he got left?
I wish you well. GC
