I had a retired teacher once that left a note she didn't have time for my lesson plans (which I worked long and hard on) because of all her activities (it was Halloween and they made bats or something). She even left me detailed instructions so I could teach the absent kids! I still shake my head over that one. I've had subs use profanity with students - especially with my ODD/ADD student two years ago. I always leave in my notes who to watch out for, when to just call the office, alternative activities etc. I spend hours getting sub notes ready that they ignore or don't understand (you have to have a bachelor's degree in my state to get be a sub -hello?) My SIL once said she thought about being a sub for some "easy money". I had to bite my tongue!
