To J.L.

Clip to ScrapBook
Dear J.L.:

It's very understandable why you want to resign: you are Special Ed. Teacher. That's an extremely tough position. I became fast friends with the special ed teacher at the school I just resigned from. She,
too, wished that she could walk away from her job nearly everyday. She has twelve students. One student was placed in the other special ed class because she could not handle him. (She is a first year teacher.) Right before I left my position she leaned over to me and whispered, "I'm not coming back next year." And, she has had help from administrators and other teachers!!!! It's a
tough job (teaching special ed.); thankfully there are teachers that can do it. You learned the hard way that you might not be one of them. That's okay. What you learn this year will most likely help you in the years to come. It's tough, I know BUT - Hang in there!

P.S. I plan to return to the ed. world very soon. I plan to sub to get to know districts/schools BEFORE I every commit to another position. I know that this strategy doesn't gaurantee I will be less stressed. However, I learned that it's very risky to accpet a position at a school you know nothing about.

Do the best you can and take care of yourself!
Sincerely, G.M.
