I created a workbook for my students to do in the morning after their morning jobs are done (putting things away, getting out BEAR books (home/school communication), signing in on morning chart, answering the daily graph). After the morning jobs are done, the children don't have much time left but there's always those first kids who need more!
We call the workbooks "Our Morning Sponge Books" and I put in coloring sheets, skill sheets (abc and numbers mostly), and lots of blank pages. When a student comes to a blank page, I'll give them a topic to write/draw about (pull a slip out of a can).

I've found these books very low key for the mornings when I'm doing so many other things and I can't give my full attention to one thing. I have new sponge books for each quarter. I want our mornings to start as smooth as possible & this is one way I've found to help that along!
