life science

This depends upon what your teacher is working on. However, if he/she tells you that you can teach anything, you could do something fun with them. I did this with my fifth graders today in life science:

Topic: Circulatory
System
Objective: The student will use science process skills of prediction, observation, and measurement to determine the rate of their heart at various intervals.

Procedure: Hand students a worksheet with a table on it. The table is set up so that the students can measure their heart rate while sitting up, then with the lights off and their heads down. They should conclude

that their heart isn't working as hard with the lights off. The actually measure their heart rate for one minute (or you can have them multiply with a shorter interval). Try it with them doing jumping jacks. How fast does their heart beat right away, after one minute, after two minutes. When was it the slowest? The students conclude that the heart has to work the hardest with exercise.
