--Is your child able to rhyme? If you say hat will they think of fat, pat and rat? Can he/she match sounds? Heather starts like heart and hippo! --Is your child using upper and lower case letters when writing? Children should be transitioning to using lower case except for the beginning of their name and of sentences. --Is your child able to monitor their need to use the bathroom and plan ahead. The relaxed nature of summer often gets children in the habit of mad-dashes in to use the bathroom. Something that can help if you see this is a problem is to set a timer and bring them in from play to use the bathroom--whether or not they "need" to go! --Is your child taking responsibility for self-care in eating and dressing? Are they working on shoe tying and getting them on the right feet? Are they able to put their own straw in a juice box? Are they aware of the need to look around and clean up their meal time messes? Can they wipe up a spill with some degree of success? I also made some comments about dress code and school supplies. Hope this helps. Gail
