Solar System/Stars and Constellations
By Michelle

Clip to ScrapBook
If your unit on the solar system touches on stars and constellations you could use the activity that I had my students complete.
My fifth graders were very interested in constellations and the stories about how they
got put up into the sky. So I printed a lot constellation pictures and their corresponding stories off of the internet to share with them. I then gave them a paper with a lot of dots drawn on it. They had to connect the dots to form their own 'constellation'. Once they had done this they had to write a short story about how their constellation got put up into the stars. Once they had
their picture and story done we published their work in booklet form (just construction paper folded in half and stapled to make a binding)
We put their booklets over in the library center for everyone to see. They loved this. Not only were we able to work on science, but we also incorporated language arts and art.
Have fun.
