    We have to have permission from the parents to let the kids on the internet, publish their name in the newspaper for the honor roll, give out mailing information, etc. We are a small school in a small community. Our local paper publishes the names of all the children who make all A's and who makes A average each 6 weeks. The parents can also get a class roster w/ names, addresses and phone numbers for the purpose of mailing birthday party invitations, etc. But all that information is considered confidential unless the parents have signed the waiver form each year. For one thing, we have a few divorce situations where the non-custodial parent doesn't know where the custodial parent and child are, and THAT parent doesn't want them finding out, so...
