    By feeling bad

    Clip to ScrapBook
I really liked the idea about getting something for the classroom ... I wish I had thought of that when I was a student teacher. But whatever you do, YOU HAVE TO GET A GIFT. It is so dang hard ... as the last person said, you're not sure what to give. Teachers get all the generic crap in the world, and they don't want any more of it. I didn't want to get the teacher something from the teacher supply store, either, because I felt she would prefer something nice for herself. Anyway, that's not the point of my post. The point is that I ended up feeling bad in one of my student teaching assignments. I got placed at a year-round school for six weeks, with a wonderful teacher who unfortunately went off-track (on vacation, that is) after four weeks. So I got put with another good teacher next door for just two weeks. Although I had gotten nicer, more substantial gifts for my other cooperating teachers, I felt that I should only get a little token for this two-week teacher. I got her a cute mini-rose plant from the grocery store and a thank-you card. She ended up getting me a large bag filled with over $50 worth of merchandise. Granted she was getting paid and I wasn't, but I still felt bad.
