It is so important for teachers to dress and act professionally. I feel that this teacher can have a belly button ring....but it should never be visible to the children. I have a tattoo on my ankle, which could prove to be a problem if I were careless, but when I wear skirts or dresses, I wear opaque tights or a skin colored bandaid that covers it. Fortunately I prefer to wear slacks so I often don't even need to worry about it. No one has ever noticed it at all, and believe me, when children see things like that, they let you know. I have observed/worked in schools (while in college) where the administration had no problem with one tattoo that could be seen as long as it was not offensive. However I still made an effort to keep mine under wraps. If we want to be treated as professionals, we must look and act the part.
