    In my district, we track teacher attendance. If we meet 95% attendance(as a whole faculty per campus) then we recieve a 1% bonus. While that is good and all, it sucks for the ones (like me) who are never absent. I missed 2 days last year. The teacher across the hall missed 41 days. No major illness or surgery or maternity leave, just 41 days ...just because. Every single member of our Phys Ed dept (except the 55 yr old man) had a baby this year--3 women and 3 men. Other faculty members...two adoptions (they took maternity leave).

    Needless to say, we did not meet that standard. It used to be on a personal basis. Every nine weeks...if you didn't miss (excluding school related absences) got a $100 bonus. If you did not miss any days all year, you received an additional $100 for a possible total of $500.

    The reasoning was to encourage teachers to come to school so the district didn't have to fund sub pay. But then they included hourly staff, like custodians and cafeteria workers. That is not fair b/c when they are absent there is no sub pay. It just affects our percentages.
