I am in the process of "skipping" student teaching right now...

And I have to say that student teaching definitely would have been the easier route. The main thing that really bogs me down is the paperwork. It would have been really helpful to see it all in action before I was totally
responsible for it myself. On the other hand, as far as classroom management goes, I don't think I would have been any better off if I had student taught. By nature I am not a strict disiplinarian by any stretch of the imagination. If I had student taught I could see myself continuing to be lackidaisical about discipline situations, only because I would have had the luxury of the coop.
teacher being the real classroom manager. As it was I sort of threw myself in the fire and have become way more strict than I ever would have imagined possible (of course, I'm still not *that* strict). It is definitely challenging to go this route. Good luck with whatever you decide.
