Hi Sissi. I am also exactly 5ft tall. I finished my student teaching this past spring. I student taught in a 3rd grade and a 5th grade. I had similar concerns because I had several 3rd graders taller than me and the majority
of the 5th graders too! I must say that I was treated as an adult and teacher by them all. At the start of my student teaching, I had wonderful cooperating teachers who explained to the children why I was there and that I was to be treated as a teacher. They accepted that and, in a way, my "short-ness" was not an issue. In a way, I felt more connected to them. My advice is to have fun
with it and learn to laugh at the potentially funny situations. I'll give you 2 of mine: our school had an Earth Day Project and each class was assigned a certain area of a park to clean. So, for that day, we were allowed to wear jeans and sneakers. We also had 3 class mothers to help us out with the kids. I was with the 5th grade at that point. So, there I am in my outfit and pony tail and I have one of the mothers ask my coopertaing teacher if I was one of the students! We all had a good laugh. Another time, I was watching the lunch line with my 5th graders and I had another student from a different class ask me if I was "on line to buy" from the cafeteria? He thought I was a student too. Just have fun!!!
