Not in AZ, but in IL...

In my school we have a bilingual classroom for each grade level...I have 20 of my own bilingual students and it is the best way to teach them English....they are learning the curriculum in their language, but I am also easing them into English at the same time. I hate pull-out ELL for the same reason another poster said earlier: the students miss out on Math, Science, Social Studies, etc. I don't know how many times I refer back to something or make a connection from something that we learned in our Language Arts block...and that connection is hard for kids who were taught by a different teacher or who weren't in your classroom.

Not all schools have the resources to have a bilingual classroom, I know that -- and we aren't a rich district by far, but I am so glad we have the program that we do.

Sigh...good luck with your program! Sorry I couldn't help, but I really wanted to add that bilingual classrooms are the way to go! :)
