Remember...
By KimW

Clip to ScrapBook
I can't tell you how to act around your student teacher but think back to when you were student teaching. How nervous were you? What would you have liked for your cooperating teacher to have done differently? When I was
student teaching I was required to keep a journal. I've kept it so when I get a student teacher I can look back at my journal to help me.
Also when her time is up, it would make her feel important for you to give her a shower/party. A shower could be for all the other teachers could give her things she'll need for the classroom. A party could be for the students to give her.
One
thing I remember is feeling like I was intruding. So whatever you do, make her feel like she belongs there.
Mainly, remember what it is like to be a student teacher. Those students will be very important to her as well. She will never be able to forget the students she has when she student teaches. She won't take over your power. In fact, you may have a problem where the students don't listen to her b/c she isn't the teacher. You are the one in control. Guide her the way you would your students.
Hope this helps some.
