The best preparation is student teaching itself. So, I wouldn't take it until after some experience student teaching.

It bascially gives you classroom situations and then you write lesson plans or descriptions or maybe even say what you would do differently. I think I even had to pick a theme and describe how I would integrate it with subjects. I pretty much used variations on several lessons that I learned from my cooperating teacher during student teaching.

This was definately my favorite test of the three I took.

Pretty much there is no way to actually study for it, so relax. You will do fine.
