Interdisciplinary Dance
By Beth

Clip to ScrapBook
Well, I don't really know much about incorporating dance into other subject areas, but I'll give it a shot.

Social Studies-If you're teaching about an event in history, such as a war, you might have the students create
some body movements (dance) that represent the feelings/emotions or events that took place. A dance concerning a certain battle, or celebration.

Science-Dance could be incorporated into science in several ways. If you're studying about the development of a plant, for instance, students could get into groups and create dance movements that represent this process. If you're studying about

the movements of the planets in the solor system, students could design labels that represent each planet and organize their movements to symbolize the orbits of the planets, even incorporating moons.

Math - Students could easily design dance movements to represent the process of multiplication. Example two students move together and two more join, then two more, then two more, etc. Division could also be represented the same way. A group of students move together and then separate to symbolize the dividing.

If I think of anymore suggestions, I'll repost.
