Clip to ScrapBook
The kids are used to a very structured atmosphere. Try using this, If you speak to a child once, tell them the next time their names goes on the board. If it happens a second time they get a check. If they end up with 2 checks they miss a special ie gym, art, music or their recreation time. This cuts into your time, but I bet they won't go off the wall when their regular teacher leaves the room. They are testing how much authority you really have. You have to prove that you do have complete authority when you're in the room alone. If you do this to a couple of students, they'll know you mean business. hope it helps.
