Before students write slips Read Have You Filled A Bucket Today? discuss the book Day 2 read a picture book, poster suggested Ruby the Copycat, teacher writes meaningful and less meaningful compliments for the characters. For several days, read other picture books. Have partners write compliments. The class will decide which are meaningful and which are less so. Gradually let individual students write compliments.
