He is being seen at a phsch outpatient place for violent tendencies.. but mom still refuses to admit that he has them... She only brought him bc all the feedback sort of forced her to... Our school is VERY slow
His mother has offered to come in and help...BUT.. I use that term loosely..bc Ive had her in before and all she does is baby him and distract any lessons going on... Unfortunatly parent volunteers is not an option.. my parents all work and can barely make the parent conference never mind come to volunteer.. I will contact the school social worker again..I have been getting her involved... The only problem is that even she handles him with special care..and the positive feedback thing just is NOT working with this kid... HEs okay when hes got one to one attention..and someone to sit with him but in the inner city school Im at there is not the staff to have someone always..or even an hour a day by his side.. therefore I feel like my choices are A. ignore his negative behavior..which means having him break all the rules and get NO work done.. B. give him the attention he needs to get work done and have my other students suffer academically..or C..get a new job..(NO..kidding) That is how I feel sometimes though..its soo emotionally draining... I LOVE hands-on interactive engaging lessons but they take ALOT of planning and prep and it is completely discouraging when they get ruined bc I have to cater to this child... you know... I feel like there is No good solution... I know its a bad attitude..but I am soo sick of being positive and getting NOWHERE...
