I have been the Student Council Advisor at my school for years. When I first started we had a school store and sold....well...junk! LOL We had theme days and it was all about fun. About 5 years ago, I decided that I needed to have a cause...something more meaningful for the children where I teach. Our focus is now totally Community Service and fun! It has been amazing! Here are a few things we have done over the years... we bought 150 livestrong bands, sold them for $2.00 a piece and donated all the money to our local Hospice, we collect Pennies for Patients every year for the Leukemia Society, when the Hurricane hit I covered a huge tube with paper and our logo was "Caring Kids Collect Change" we collected over $5000.00 just in change for the Red was amazing! our local bank counted it for us daily. We collect monthly donations for our Family Services in Portsmouth...they call monthly with what they need, we do a local Toys for Tots drive in December, each grade level adopts a family for Christmas, we have a sweater/sweatshirt drive for the StarMight Foundation here in NH, we just collected Legos for the lego building bricks for the Future Drive to help donations for schools in New Orleans...we collected over 8,000. Those are just a few...the children feel so good when they help out!
We still do theme days...this Friday we are having Jeans and Bandada day to support the Susan B Koeman Foundation. The staff will donate $5.00 to wear jeans and the children will donate a quarter, all ice cream sales will be donated, too! We have a theme day the first Friday of every month. I wrote to Levi and Lee and they sent very cool posters for free. The Student Council wrote all the scoop for the first theme day on them...looked great! Feel free to drop me a note if you have any more questions.

    Have a great weekend!
