Our school is implementing a no homework policy except for reading logs each night. This would be a great way to sneak in other areas such as math, science, social studies, etc...
I ordered some bags last night on thei internet, they were only $35.15 for 24 bags. I just googled wholesale totes and chose what I wanted. I am really excited about putting these together but I don't think I will have them done before the school year starts, so I may have to start later. I thought about starting after parent/teacher conferences the first nine weeks and telling students that if their parents come to conferences to learn about the bags then they will be able to participate in the program. Double edged sword! Do you think that's a good idea? I want to use non-fiction that will tie into other content areas. For example with fossils, I will use dinosaur books and maybe add a movie selection from the land before time. I want to do the wright brothers and thought about including paper airplanes and flight. They could construct different planes and record the flight distance and then graph it as a project. I have some books with tall tales, fairy tales, myths, and legends that have extensions that I thought I would use for those bags. Any other ideas?
