    Here is what I hope to do this year. I couldn't have minilessons in between the Daily 5 rotations this past year, because of scheduling with ESL and Title.

    15 minutes-shared reading
    20 minutes-Daily 5 and guided reading
    10 minutes-spelling
    20 minutes-Daily 5 and guided reading
    10 minutes-focus on a decoding strategy or comprehension strategy (using our shared reading book)
    20 minutes-Daily 5 and guided reading

    Writing is separate because I use Units of Study, so I will not incorporate writing into the Daily 5 time.

    You don't have to do 5 rotations of the Daily 5. Many teachers do 3 or 4 everyday. My schedule just wouldn't allow me to do 5 rotations everyday.
