changing this year By Love3rdGrade
|
| In the past years I have rewarded good behavior with a "dollar" each day. At the end of the month they spend these dollars at my auction. It takes quite a few to get something so they learn after that first auction that they need to earn them everyday. My stash of stuff is quite small now and I'm thinking about changing my system to a weekly pull of 5-10 names and reward with things I don't need to buy or that cost next to nothing. I was lucky to have many little things in my stash that I had collected over the years prior to teaching and really had to buy very little. I also shopped the clearance racks and chose things that cost $1 and had more than one item in the package. You'd be surprised what the kids raved over that I had. I also used my scholastic points to "buy" the $0.95 books. I haven't done a whole class reward before and want to do that this year. I like the idea of a movie, game, or popcorn day to celebrate for the whole class. My class last year really drained my enthusiasm for the auctions because their behavior was pretty bad some days.
