This is a technique I see used a lot in the classrooms I sub. in. Students are awarded (or lose) bonus points throughout the day, week, etc., and they are allowed to cash them in for things. Usually as a sub., I'll allow them to cash them in for bonus recess, but their regular teachers have bonus movies, a pizza party (they have to earn an incredible amount of points for this), candy, etc. It is a great incentive, and works well with a lot of grade levels.
