grading students' work

When I subbed, we were encouraged to grade papers by the school district where I subbed. Of course, I wasn't going to grade papers to the point where I was leaving school at 5:00 p.m. after everybody else had left. Do what you can, then leave a note with the teacher that you tried to complete as much as possible by 3:15, or the time you are permitted to leave.
