It sounds like you were trying to do the right thing. This is my second year subbing at the same school district, last year I subbed at least 15 days each month for different teachers. I have never been invited to any workshops, meetings, baby showers, birthday parties, etc. The other subs are not included either. Don't get me wrong I like walking out the door at 3:00, but most districts just do not include subs in the day-to-day activities.
As for the strange looks you received when entering the room, its your choice who you sub for, maybe you should remember who it was giving them out. Most teachers appriciate good subs, but some do not.
