Thank you colleague, for your redefining my status. I have been just a sub for over 12 years because I like working parttime, but I love teaching. I decided long ago that teachers deserve to have competent, qualified educators in their classes when they are out. My goal for the day or days is to conduct the class and present the learning environment as closely as possible to that which the teacher lays out for me. There are a few days where I just get by, as do "regular " teachers if the staff room talk is true; but many, many more days I leave feeling that the teacher and students could chalk up another day of learning and caring from a qualified teacher.
